China’s "National Groundwater Pollution Prevention Plan (2011-2020)" officially released in October 2011, is China’s first programmatic document on groundwater pollution control. According to the Plan, by 2015, China will be able to obtain a good understanding of the groundwater pollution conditions, control groundwater pollution sources, stem the trend of groundwater quality deterioration, and establish a complete groundwater quality monitoring system.
To achieve the above goals, China MEP, China Ministry of Land and Resources, and China Ministry of Water Resources have proposed the“National Groundwater Base Environmental Quality Investigation and Evaluation Work Plan”. The proposed investigation and evaluation is expected to take 5 years. The China-US Groundwater Cooperation Demonstration Project will improve the technical advancement of China’s groundwater investigation projects and become a highlight in China-US Water Environmental Cooperation Program.
In 2014, UCEEF created a training video outlining the serious consequences that we are facing from inadequate waste water discharge treatment. Additional videos are under development to educate the public on water protection and hazardous management.
